Brief Bio

Doris Abigail Chi Pool holds a PhD from the University of Seville, specializing in natural lighting, environmental conditioning, and energy efficiency in buildings. She is a Specialist in Visual Environment and Efficient Lighting, and holds a Master's degree in Lighting, both from the National University of Tucumán; she is also an Architect, having graduated from the Autonomous University of Yucatán. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Sustainability Area and a Full-Time Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of the Americas Puebla, Mexico. She has conducted research at various institutions, including the Institute of Human and Environmental Sciences (INCIHUSA) in Argentina and the School of Construction and Civil Engineering at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) in Mexico; a member of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA), Mexico Chapter; and a collaborator in the TEP-130 Research Group: Architecture, Heritage, and Sustainability: Acoustics, Lighting, Optics, and Energy. Her research encompasses Climate-Based Daylight Modelling (CBDM), environmental conditioning of spaces, energy efficiency, and building performance simulations. She is particularly focused on studies for optimizing building design through parametric design and statistical analysis, which improve natural lighting and energy efficiency. She has published articles in indexed journals and presented at international conferences; she has also reviewed research articles for international journals and conferences. In addition, she works in consulting, design, and projects related to architectural, heritage, urban, and landscape lighting.
