Brief Bio

Dr Faris Ali Mustafa works as a Professor at the Department of Architecture, Salahaddin University - Erbil (SUE), Iraq. He received a PhD. in Architecture from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2011), an MSc in Environmental Design from Sudan University of Science & Technology (2002), and a BSc in Architecture from the University of Mosul, Iraq. At the Department of Architecture in SUE, he teaches Design Studies and Research Methodology for the MSc and PhD Programs, supervises several MSc and PhD students, and also teaches subjects including Graduation Project, Vernacular Architecture, and Design Methods and Strategies for undergraduates. His main research interests focus on Daylighting and Visual Comfort, Architectural and Interior Design Studies. He is active in writing and publishing research papers in international journals and conferences. His research and studies apply the theory of Space Syntax and its tools and techniques, and building simulations. He has published over 50 papers in international journals, books, book chapters, and international conferences. He is a member of the editorial board of several international and national scientific journals.
